Helping Chicago's women-in-need experience their periods with health and dignity.

Our Mission

According to City Data, 29 percent of Chicago residents are living below the poverty line. That means nearly one million people in Chicago can’t always count on having enough food to eat, let alone personal hygiene products. For many women living in poverty, they can’t afford the items that most of us consider necessities: tampons, pads, even clean underwear.

The Chicago Period Project is an aspiring non-profit organization that seeks to empower these women by providing feminine hygiene products that will allow them to experience their periods with dignity. For women all across the Chicagoland area, we are collecting donations of pads, tampons, underwear, heating pads, water bottles, hand sanitizer, and even chocolate bars, and partnering with local shelters and organizations to distribute them to women in need. We are also working with local businesses to host events that will increase awareness of the needs that many of these women have.
